forbidden passions

Think Happy Thoughts!

So extremely sick of watching all the sad stuff going on in the world! News should include good not just bad! I've actually stopped watching it because of this and refuse to be a party to it any more! I know sad shizit is happening I don't need a constant reminder though! I choose to be positive and surround myself with such things as to enable this choice!!!

Saturday night blues...

I'm home this weekend (I know even I need some down time) and despite the awesome shepherds pie I have just cooked and the fact that I am waiting for it to ting out of the oven so I can eat this yummy treat, and the Bourbon someone just opened and put in a cooler for me to drink, I am really bored!

It doesn't happen often, but I am at a loose end.

I feel like an angsty teen made to stay home on a Saturday night despite all the good fun they could be having but aren't.

I have plenty of work to do - writing, research, reading, watching, looking but tonight none of that holds its usual lustre :-(
I'm that over myself I feel like crawling into bed and just being done with it!

These are my options -

A/ scull the 5 cans of premixed bourbon designated to me for tonight, and hope like hell that I end up drunk, slur something incomprehensible, stuff my face with regrettable rubbish/junk food from my fridge and pass out.

B/ Sip languishingly at said cans and roam around doing not a lot of anything until I can't take it anymore and 2 cans deep put myself to bed.

C/ Eat, take a long luxurious bath whilst reading a book, give myself a facial and paint my nails and go to bed.

D/ Give up and just go to bed.

I remain undecided,  but number 1 might be the best option!!!

without a story....

Talk Show — How to let your characters tell their story

We don't have to do names do we?

Sometimes, but not always - when I meet new people I don't always remember their name right away. Its not on purpose or because they don't matter, its just for some reason my short term memory chooses not to retain names of people until I have repeatedly said it over and over in my brain or when I have met them at least 3 times.
I'm more like oh the pretty brunette with the nice shoes or the one with the gold earrings I liked. With guys its usually smells or smiles. I know, I'm a fucking weirdo but what can you do????

Does she know you buy your sweaters at Build a Bear?

There was a rather awkward moment a few days ago between me and this tiny, tiny man who ran over my toes with his trolley because he could barely see over the top. As I clutched my toes swearing under my breath he had the audacity to say "get out of my way' and huffed off. I felt like saying a lot of things but decided to let it go due to the fact that I'm not tiny and I don't have to shop at a kids party shop!

Its idea time again! Its that time.....

As you may or may not have read in a previous blog post, I am currently ghost writing a book for someone. Meaning - they have an idea for a book and hire me to turn that idea into an actual novel.
Its should be an interesting 6 months. I'm doing character profiles at the moment - and its really fun! For more on character profiles go to my blog archives.

It also sounds like a side effect...

Writing stories that you make up in your head is a true gift...but maybe its also a side effect of being awesome :-)

10 Essential Tips for Writing a Press Release

I found this interesting and thought I would share ~
  1. Use an accepted Press Release format/template.
  2. Wait until you have something important to announce.
  3. Ask: How will people relate to this and will they be able to use it?
  4. Write in plain language.
  5. Deal with the facts.
  6. Make sure the information is newsworthy.

I'm feeling a bit under the weather today - I may or may not have the flu!

I Woke up this morning with a weird little cough and am feel a bit wheezy. However, I am supposed to be thinking of amazing things to write for this blog and the writing project I have been working on. Instead I am laying on my bed with my laptop on my lap in my pyjamas at 12:09pm and wondering if I can eat something. Its not an ideal situation considering all the things I had hoped to achieve today but wont!

Charcter Outlines

Tomorrow I am going to focus on character outlines for a new writing project I am working on. Its really an amazing process. When I get all my questions laid out I will post them here and maybe you can use them for your next novel or take something away from it that will help you get your characters sorted out better.

How big is too big?

Reading is my life

I was walking past a sale bookshop the other day and it said everything storewide is $3.00. It made me think about all the effort and time these authors had put into their masterpieces and it kind of made me sad that it had been reduced to a measly few bucks. I know they have to make way for new books coming through but $3 seemed sad and mean!

Blog posts are disappearing

I spent ages last night writing a blog post on my phone I even took a photo to go with it and everything! And then when I hit publish the flipping thing disappeared completely! After searching for it for a long time I gave up! I was going to rewrite it but the humour had gone and I would have been left with shit!
It was about movies and the one I was about to watch - so in memory of that post here is a picture.

7 Days in Morocco!

Today I watched 7 Days in Morocco! I borrowed it from the library on a whim as I was searching through the DVD's because I'm always craving new information about anything really. I'm interested in everything!

Anyway as I was watching this documentary type show I got an overwhelming feeling of gratefulness that I am Australian, and I live in such a relaxed and easy going country!
The history, architecture and landscapes were definitely something they can be proud of. However the housing, villages, and towns and cities all looked so foreign and scary! The streets teaming with markets and babbling voices gave me an unsafe feeling even though I was sitting on my bed! The mosques and religion are  a big presence in Morocco and despite claiming they having a lot to offer, I  don't think I'll be going to Morocco any time soon.

The Librarians

I just finished watching the third series of The Librarians! I hope to God they make a fourth season because it is my new favourite show! If you haven't seen it before, you have to check it out!

Gold Digger Novel by Tara Anderton

Come and check out my new banner!

I just spent the last 45 minutes trying to get together my new banner for my Writing in Heels that you will be able to see at the top of this page. I had plenty of photos to choose from and decided on this one! I hope you like it!!!

What I am watching......

Yesterday I made my weekly trip to the Library to discover the wondrous world of reading and cool movies, shows and documentaries. I was lucky enough to find the original Puberty Blues which I watched last night as well as Suburgatory. Shit - if you haven't watched this show then you are totally missing out! I was also lucky enough to find Turn Me On, Goddammit (a Foreign film that looks pretty f'ing awesome. Others on the list include The Life and Death of Peter Sellers, Small Island, Sean Penn - This must be the place, and the remake of Puberty Blues just because I have some sort of Mini obsession.

I also borrowed She's Out of Control by Kristin Billerbeck which should be a good read. I am excited for today - raining, bed, movies!!!!!!

Revenge Wears Prada

'She's a handful,' he said, shaking his head. Andy almost spit out her coffee. In bed? Is that what he means? 'She definitely keeps me on my toes.'
What does that mean? That she was spirited? Feisty? Clever? Ballsy? Funny? Charming? All of the above?

How to Write a Story that Rocks, part 1 of 12

I found this interesting and I thought I would share it with you!

Saturday, 14 September 2013

Whats happening Tara?

Usually once a week I fill you in on what I have been up too and what I am planning to do in the coming week etc. So here it is.

I'm having a really relaxing day today. I had a friend Rhea staying with me for 4 days from Melbourne, and she left this morning. I had to drop her at the airport at 5:30am and after not getting to bed till 2:30am I was feeling a little bit sleep deprived. Upon returning home I climbed back into bed and slept until 11:30am. Its funny how tired you get when someone comes to stay, I guess its because we were non stop the whole time. She is a singer so I was lucky enough to watch her perform at two different gigs, plus we went to the beach, lunch, dinner and drinks.

Tomorrow I'm going to the beach again if weather permits and will hopefully finish the book I am reading. I don't plan on doing much else.

This coming Monday I have a lot of work to do with my new writing project which I am looking forward too. Hopefully get some promo for Gold Digger done, and write some interesting blog posts to entertain you with. The rest of the week will be much of the same - with some reading and hopefully sees me watching Lost Series 4 episodes 3-4 which I am patiently waiting to get returned to my local library so I can watch the rest of the show that I have sitting in my library bag (yes I have a bag) that are required to be returned to the library in less than two weeks.

Anyway have a good weekend whatever you get up too. xx

Mind Mapping

Today I started a new project - which meant me having to draw on my awesome mind mapping skills to create the best mind map of a story outline you have ever seen. I swear I could teach this shit!

After which I started outlining characters - always a really fun process and then started writing some of the story. Just the basics for now but a really great start if I do say so myself!

What an awesome day!

As you can see I got to write outside with this lovely view....

Femaile Hysteria and Creepy Old Timey Vibrators.

I love reading other peoples blogs, and this is no exception. In Bed with Married Women never ceases to crack me up! With its crazy topics and lol wording - you wont find a more risqué place to find out about all the things no one talks about!
Here is a small exert from the latest literary snack - for more click the link at the bottom of this post!

In the 19th century, as many as 75% of middle-class women were estimated to suffer from hysteria, but luckily medical science was there to help them. Doctors treated hysteria with "pelvic massage" until the patient reached "hysterical paroxysm." In modern times, we know "pelvic massage" to be "the doctor jerking off his patient" and "hysterical paroxysm" to be "orgasm." The procedure as a whole is now known as "grounds for a lawsuit."

Doctors of the day were happy to provide such a treatment, as it provided a steady stream of paying customers (patients were advised to come in weekly for their treatments). It was all good, except for one thing, doctors found the actual manipulation of their patients genitals to be tedious and tiring. According to the highly entertaining Wikipedia entry on Female Hysteria:  "The technique was difficult for a physician to master and could take hours to achieve 'hysterical paroxysm.'" (The physicians' widespread befuddlement at mastering these basic lady-pleasing skills puts Marrying a Doctor much lower on the To-Do list.)

Ha ha - such a classic post

I'm getting back into writing my new book Ally in Disguise.... nothing better than sitting down and letting my imagination run away with itself.....

Tuesday, 3 September 2013

Yeah, that's what they tell me!

Gold Digger, my first published novel is going to be available for sale in plenty of major bookshops, and you will be able to purchase it online and in many electronic forms really soon. It's exciting times!

Gold digger is still available for pre order at my author website.

She accepted, but no photo.

I find it somewhat annoying when people don't include a profile pic on their page.
If you're that repulsed by your unattractive appearance at least upload a decoy pic of a windswept beach, fuzzy bunny or similar. Another option could be a pic of your feet in the sand, your name written in paint etc. Put some effort into attracting friends or followers.

It''s not a great time, I kind of have people over.

You're sitting around with a small group of non descript people that have popped over to say hi, and one of your friends call you up and wants to give you a play by play of the best sex of their lives and you're trying to keep a straight face, while the 'visitors' sip cups of steaming tea and nibble on the best chocolate cake they have ever eaten all the while pretending they hadn't herd the vulgar shit that is echoing around the silent room.

Welcome to the show!

Okay, so then that happened!

Hot off the Press

Danielle Steels latest book First Sight is def something I am planning on reading.

First Sight.

Paris, L.A., and the world of ready to wear fashion provide rich backdrops for Danielle Steel’s deeply involving story of a gifted designer whose talent and drive have brought her everything—except the ability to erase her past and trust relationships. FIRST SIGHT New York. London. Milan. Paris. Fashion Week in all four cities. A month of endless interviews, parties, and unflagging work and attention to detail at the semi annual ready to wear fashion shows—the famous prêt-à-porter. At the centre of the storm and avalanche of work is American Timmie O’Neill, whose renowned line, Timmie O, is the embodiment of casual chic, in fashion and for the home. She has created a business that inspires, fills, and consumes her life. With an unerring instinct for what the next trend will be, an innate genius for business, tireless labour, and sheer fearlessness, starting from nothing, over two decades Timmie has built an international empire that has brought her enormous satisfaction and success. In a world where humility and compassion are all too rare, her humour, kindness, integrity, and creativity are inspirational. Yet as blessed as she feels by her success, Timmie harbors the private wounds of a devastating childhood and past tragedy. She is too smart, too experienced, and too hurt to want much in her personal life beyond a succession of convenient, very limited relationships. Always willing to take risks in business, she never risks her heart. But despite her well-ordered and highly controlled world, it turns out that Timmie O’Neill is not immune to magic when it strikes. And it strikes in Paris during Paris Fashion Week, when an intriguing Frenchman comes into her life when she gets sick. At first, Timmie and Jean-Charles Vernier are only patient and physician. They become confidants and friends, corresponding at a safe distance between Paris and Los Angeles once she goes home. There is every reason why they must remain apart. But neither can deny their growing friendship and the electricity that sparks whenever they meet. First Sight is as complex and compelling as modern life itself. Careers, families, histories, losses, duty, obligation, and fear of losing control and getting hurt. It is a tale of daring to take risks, and losing control just enough to have a life, when the opportunity presents itself. When two very different worlds and strong-willed people collide, everything changes in an instant, as they confront the age-old question of whether to lay oneself bare and risk intimacy—or not. Are they brave enough to face what comes next? And will they do it together or apart?

Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns (The Devil Wears Prada #2)

I've just started to read the long anticipated second novel by Lauren Weisberger. Cant wait to see what happens.

Here is a small description for you.

The sequel you’ve been waiting for: the follow-up to the sensational #1 bestseller The Devil Wears Prada.Almost a decade has passed since Andy Sachs quit the job “a million girls would die for” working for Miranda Priestly at Runway magazine—a dream that turned out to be a nightmare. Andy and Emily, her former nemesis and co-assistant, have since joined forces to start a highend bridal magazine. The Plunge has quickly become required reading for the young and stylish. Now they get to call all the shots: Andy writes and travels to her heart’s content; Emily plans parties and secures advertising like a seasoned pro. Even better, Andy has met the love of her life. Max Harrison, scion of a storied media family, is confident, successful, and drop-dead gorgeous. Their wedding will be splashed across all the society pages as their friends and family gather to toast the glowing couple. Andy Sachs is on top of the world. But karma’s a bitch. The morning of her wedding, Andy can’t shake the past. And when she discovers a secret letter with crushing implications, her wedding-day jitters turn to cold dread. Andy realizes that nothing—not her husband, nor her beloved career—is as it seems. She never suspected that her efforts to build a bright new life would lead her back to the darkness she barely escaped ten years ago—and directly into the path of the devil herself...

F. Scott Fitzgerald

Thinking out loud.....

Sometimes things are better left in your head - to bounce around in that wondrous thing we all like to call our brain. But sometimes it spews forth onto the pages of my journal, blog or book and I just cant stop it. This would be one of those times.

I've been different for about a month now. I noticed that I was changing but then bam, it happened like I didn't know it was coming - even though I did. One day I'm thinking like I had been for the last 3 years and then I'm not - just like that! Not sure if it was an epiphany or some sort of mid life crisis but whatever it was has done something too me that I'm not sure I can even describe. Like a panic attack but I can breath fine - like shit is falling down around me but when I look around everything is as it was before. And then just like that its okay - but its changed.
I don't even really know if your going to think I'm mad or your going to be all like 'yeah I get what you're trying to say' but that's it - that's my little story.
