Danielle Steel - The sins of the mother

I do, they showed us a film about it and everything!

Looking around the net for clips about writing, and particularly Romance writing, I have found a wealth of information from other writers, scholars and wordsmiths that has been very helpful.
You may or may not have noticed  that I regularly post these fantastic tid bits for your information, in a hope that I too am helping you achieve your writing goals or inspire you to start making some.
Along with the wealth of information I have already posted regarding my trials and tribulations, highs and lows about writing my novels and how I go about it, I hope that I somehow make you laugh think and be merry.
I also think that if you don't hear from other people about writing, you can't truly progress...So get out there and listen, learn, read and watch. You can check my archives on the left for plenty of links to get you started.

Good luck with your writing....

You have to know who you are and what you represent....

Its not as easy as you think ...but I finally know who I am...a writer and I represent myself.
Its so hard to find your voice, but I think I finally have, well I have but its always a work in progress... just like life...anyone's life. You have to work out what your good at and just go for it. Sometimes it takes years and the right moment in time, sometimes it doesn't but don't give up on your dream.....
There are so many times that you will doubt yourself and wonder what in the hell are you doing, But i stuck to it and although I have a long way to go..I am on the right track and I really respect myself for believing that I could do it!!

Trying to fit a square into a circle...

The Carrie Diaries...

I was very pleased to hear that Carrie Bradshaw is still making waves with a new series 'The Carrie Diaries.'
I loved Sex and The City (the show) as I am sure so many women out there did. It was such an amazing show...and I am sure that the latest version based on the life of a younger Carrie will be just as successful. Funnily enough I had just finished reading The Carrie Diaries by Candace Bushnell about a month before hearing that a show was in fact due to air on Fox 8.

Today I got to actually watch the first episode and was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved it!

played by AnnaSophia Robb

About The Show

It's 1984, and life isn't easy for 16-year-old Carrie Bradshaw.
Since their mother passed away, Carrie's younger sister Dorritt is more rebellious than ever, and their father Tom is overwhelmed with the responsibility of suddenly having to care for two teenage girls on his own.
Carrie's friends – sweet, geeky Mouse, snarky Maggie and sensitive Walt – make life bearable, but a suburban life in Connecticut isn't doing much to take her mind off her troubles.
Even the arrival of a sexy new transfer student named Sebastian only reminds Carrie that she spent the whole summer grieving rather than moving on with life. So when Tom offers Carrie the chance to intern at a law firm in Manhattan, she leaps at the chance.
Carrie's eyes are opened wide at the glamour and grit of New York City – and when she meets Larissa, the style editor for Interview magazine, she's inspired by the club culture and unique individuals that make up Larissa's world.
Carrie's friends and family may have a big place in her heart, but she's fallen in love for the first time with the most important man in her life – Manhattan.

Needless to say I have series linked it and will be possibly it's number 1 fan.

I have the Summer in the City Book to read on my shelves which is the sequel to the Carrie Diaries and comes before the Actual Sex in The City Book and series..... Candace Bushnell - thanks for your amazing writing skills and congrats on such a successful writing career!!!

Option 2 - The Best Oral Sex of his life!

'I don't know. If I take a date, he has to drive six hours, stay at my parents, and sit by himself holding my purse during a wedding where he doesn't know anyone. Brains, booty and all business!

I have been working really hard on getting Ally in Disguise typed up so I can finish writing the main body of the story. It's been a really long ordeal, that I fully delve into in many other blog posts that you can peruse In the blog archives.
Apart from that, I am still working on getting Gold Digger published. I am at the cover stage~ waiting for the design department. @ SBPRA too come up with two cover options for me too choose from. It's very exciting and I am sure they will come up with two wonderful designs. After that Gold Digger will be going to print and will be available on Amazon.com for purchase as well as through various other electronic media~ more details will be available closer to the publishing date. However, you can purchase it via a pre order option at my author website

http://www.taraanderton.blogspot.com

I have also been doing alot of Gold Digger promo and setting up accounts. On many social medias. For a full list check out the sidebar on the left or check in the blog archives.

I haven't read any books this week, which makes me a bit sad, but I want to finish the book I am reading The Best Day on Someone Elses Life by Kerry Reichs because its really good, so I'll make time for it this week.

But all work and no play makes for a boring story, both in my writing and my peronal life!
I went out with my cousins on the weekend and went dancing. I shook my booty, drank watery vodka lemonades, naughtily smoked a few cigarettes and talked to some interesting people. I had a pretty great night!

Can't wait for this Friday night, going to Helinika for dinner with my fab French step mother Sophie and you know how I love anything French...ALOT!!! and her Greek boyfriend Alex. Whenever I am with her I have the best time! And let's just say the conversation is never dull!!

Typing up Ally In Disguise...

Tonight due to unforeseen circumstances I was without an Internet connection, and will possibly extend until Friday. I do have Internet on my phone and blogger droid which is how I can still be typing this. I did however find myself with some time on my hands without the distraction and lure of research, Blogging, google+ and Facebook, YouTube and all the rest. I then wondered if in fact I should be doing some housework, but that seemed unlikely. Other options include: read a book, continue with the bathroom renovations or type up Ally in Disguise. Thankfully I chose Ally, because the dread I had been feeling about not doing enough typing over the holidays was starting to really get to me.
So its 1:23am now and I managed to get two chapters typed up. I'm pretty proud of my effort and I plan on doing at least three tomorrow. That means I will be at least one step closer to getting it all done sooner rather than later.
If your reading this and wondering what the hell I'm Going on about you may wish to visit the Ally In Disguise archives located in the right hand panel towards the bottom of the page for the full story.
I'm going to bed!!!

Better than the movie!

More from Kerry Reichs' book.....

Exert from The Best Day of Someones Else's Life.

I found Dirty Dancing playing on Oxygen channel.
'Absolutely not,' said Brick. 'I veto that. In fact, I veto anything on Oxygen Channel.'
'Nobody puts baby in a corner,' said Imogen.
'You aren't even watching,' complained Maeve. 'This is a good part, where the dad tells Baby she let him down and then she says no, you let me down....'
'Turn it,' said Brick. 'I mean it. Turn it, or it's dirty sock feet in the face for you. And i'm telling you, these are laundry-day socks.' I turned it. I have a thing about dirty socks.
'I'll switch back for the finale,' I told Maeve.
'Nobody puts Baby in a corner,' Maeve repeated. 'What's a four letter word for "dismal"?'
'Navy,' I said. Imogen was stumped. Brick rolled his eyes like we were morons.
'You're living it. D-U-L-L,' he pronounced.
It's "grim",' Maeve crowed as she filled it in.
'That too.' Brick went back to his laptop.
'Well,' Imogen heaved herself up, 'should we motivate to Louis's for chili and football? The game starts soon.' I felt too lazy to imagine being anywhere but the couch, but we had to make an appearence.
'Can I come?' pleaded Brick. 'It can't be more boring, dull, grim than this. There'll be guys there. And football. That means nacho cheese dip. I love nacho cheese dip. If I watch anymore Oxygen channel I'm gonna get my period.'
'No. Go do laundry.'
'I'll bring you some cheese dip. And tampons.'
'Don't let anyone put you in a corner,' said Maeve, watching Patrick Swayze gyrate on the screen.

Summer Writing Project....

To finish off the main story line for Ally in Disguise.....
I have been struggling with the amount of typing I still have to do. As I have previously mentioned many times, I am not a huge fan of typing for hours at a time and can get very easily distracted or demotivated. Unfortunately my original copy of Ally in Disguise fully typed 2nd draft went down with my computer when it crashed about 4 months ago. I ALWAYS have a typed copy printed out so I can write over it when I am editing and adding to the story. (I hand write my books and type up the new version and then write over/around and on it, I flip it and add more pages) so anyway 45 typed pages with tonnes of additions lays in my hands needing to be retyped so I can continue the story. I am about halfway through, and it seems easy enough, but believe me, with all the arrows and words worming their way around other words  and extra pages, it takes alot longer than anyone could imagine.
So...my goal this summer is to complete the typing and smash out the rest of the story. I know its a bit far fetched to expect the story to be basically complete. But hopefully on my 6th draft by then and have the story complete by July. It does take so much dedication to get a book to its final stages...but I love doing it!

Wisdom Teeth Dilema!

Bloody wosdom teeth that keep going up and down - just decide already! I also have a situation where they are pushing my eye teeth up the top forward and forcing me to get said wisdom teeth removed.
I have known this for a while but money and my irrational fear of dentists and needles, blood, teeth pulling, the smell of the dentist and tool related phobias.
But thank god for the 'happy gas' That there, is the saving grace. Anyone who has tried it, will totally agree that it makes any procedure physically possible and even renders it almost enjoyable, allowing the breather of this  a trip to LALA land!

Totally awesome!!!!

The clothes line mission!!!

Its Saturday here in Australia on the Gold Coast and its soooo hot. About 34 degrees, and I am sitting in aircon bliss wondering If I should get the clothes off the line before they burn. Its Midday!!! And Yes that's right clothes, burn here....
The decision although minor in your eyes, is one I should think fully about, before I do anything hasty. If, I venture out into the desert, I will be blasted with a thick hot wind and I will be standing in sun that beats down on you until you can feel your heartbeat in your brain!
I will be soaking wet before I can grapple the clothes stiffly hanging on the line. Its a rip and grab opperation with pegs popping off and flying through the air and me bundling clothes up in my arms and sprinting for the door. A shower usually takes place after said mission which is borderline straight cold tap with maybe a tweak of the hot so its not icy.....
I can do that, or sit here in the cool. But then i'll have burnt clothes??
Hmmmm decisions decisions.

10 tips for writing loveable romance hero's

French food!

6. French food
The French are famous for their food. Think of French fare and you conjure up images of gourmet restaurants, Michelin stars, fantastic, creamy concoctions and fabulous bread and pastries, not to mention the chocolate... oh the chocolate! Yes, the French are, justifiably famous for their food. Not for nothing are the best chefs trained in France, and the country is home to some of the world's most respected restaurants. This culinary expertise is not what I am talking about here though. What is really remarkable about the French and their food is that they talk about it all the time. All the time. Sit near any group of French (women or men) and you are 90% certain to hear at least some conversation about food. If the conversation happens to be taking place in a restaurant or over a meal, however humble, that certainty increases to 100%. Even the roughest of workmen will earnestly discuss the merits of this or that dish over a meal, even though it is highly unlikely that they have ever cooked it themselves. The Best Day of someone Else's Life Exert

'So, what'll it be?' enthused Imogen once we were seated with menus. 'The Nouvelle Leo or the Brie, Basil, and Tomato Omelet?'
'Very funny,' I replied. I ordered the Veggie Huevos Rancheros.
'Do you want that with sausage?' asked the server. I paused. Imogen snorted.
'Yes I would like my Veggie Quesadilla with sausage,' I deadpanned.
The server didn't notice. 'Anything to drink?'
I ordered a Bloody Mary, an orange juice, a coffee and a coke. The server looked at me. 'I like a little drinks party,' I said.
Imogen rolled her eyes. 'A toast,' she pronounced. 'To prising you away from a Wedding Story marathon and getting you out on a Saturday.'

It's a God Damn Heat Wave!!!!

Sticking to the leather seat, it's virtually impossible to type this blog post. The wind blowing out of my laptop is like a hot mess. and it's bugging my brain out, I can hardly think straight, let alone type this out.
Living in Queensland Australia has it's advantages but I am hard pressed to remember any due too this blanket of heat hanging over my house. Being this hot shouldn't be possible really and makes me doubt my very existence in such a place.
For fucks sake, turn the heat down, it's like soup in here!!!

What's a chop salad?

I had no idea how or what a Chop Salad was. So I went on a mission to find out. This is what I found........

A Chop Salad or Chopped Salad  is just exactly what it sounds like: a salad whose ingredients have all been cut down to a fairly uniform size, around 1/2" cubes. It works well as a side dish and it shines as one of the all time great entree salads when you want a lighter meal. It is easy to eat because the diner doesn't have to take anything apart with a knife, which makes it particularly good for a dinner party.

The classic leaf for a chopped salad is romaine lettuce hearts. You can use some of the dark greens as well, but the ribs provide the structure that keeps the salad in cubes with some airspace, instead of collapsing into a mass of slimy leaves. A fantastic way to cut romaine is to make some lengthwise incisions, leaving the base intact, before cutting across the leaves at 1/2" intervals. Three of these lengthwise cuts is great for a normal salad, but for a chopped salad try five.
As with any salad, the lettuce must be scrupulously, absolutely dry. If you don't have a great salad spinner, I highly recommend this one from OXO Good Grips; it works like a champ.
If you go to a restaurant that specialized in chopped salads, you might see it made by putting all the ingredients on a single cutting board and rapidly Benihana-ing them with multiple knives. That makes a good show but isn't a very practical technique at home. I like to do each ingredient individually for maximum control. Even the chickpeas get a once over though, to create the chopped texture.
Beyond the romaine, you can chose just about any other salad ingredients that play well together. I've suggested one grouping below, but feel free to make up your own. I particularly like to include rather large amounts of fresh herbs such as mint.
If it is more convenient, you can make part of this salad several hours in advance. Bell peppers, cucumbers, olives, chickpeas and so forth can all be cubed and refrigerated until gametime. The lettuce can be washed, cut, and spun dry about an hour ahead and put back in the fridge to chill and remove the last bit of moisture in a low humidity environment. Just don't weight it down with the other ingredients, or god forbid, dress it, until the last minute.
Here's the version I happened to serve today; don't hesitate to change it to suit your mood, menu or produce bin.
Chopped Salad
Vegetarian and gluten-free; vegan if you don't use cheese
Serves 4

  • 2/3 cup cooked chickpeas, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 English cucumber, 1/2" cubes
  • 1/2 cup pitted kalamata olives, roughly chopped
  • 1/4 cup sweet onion, minced
  • 1/2 cup jarred roasted red pepper, small dice
  • 2 green onions, 1/4" lengths
  • 1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • 3 romaine lettuce hearts, cut as described above
  • 1 handful mint leaves, roughly torn
  • dressing of your choice; this lemon-mustard vinaigrette is a fine choice

I hope you found this as randomly interesting as I did - as you can see I'm a bit of a salad fan, and couldn't think of anything yummier to eat on a hot day to refresh and cool me down!

Information gathered at
http://herbivoracious.com/2010/04/chopped-salad-revisiting-a-classic-recipe.html

When you live in a big city, it's easy to feel small!

I have been feeling small lately, like maybe overwhelmed with life right now - looking around at all the people, streets, places and wishing I had a cottage in a small town with no traffic lights, no crowds. I want trees, open spaces, fresh air and silence.
Cities are such amazing places with so much to offer, but sometimes I think me and maybe everyone needs to get back to nature, take a few days, weeks, years off.
Cities whilst a fabulous host to so much art, music, films and food can also be very draining. Zapping your very essence and leaving you wondering what it a You start wigging out and questioning your being and existence in a place that can both inflate and deflate at the same time.
How do you find a happy balance?
Mmm I'll let you know how I go.......

'That would work,' Victoria said calmly, 'as long as I believe you. If i don't, you're out of luck. That's the hitch. Make me believe you, make me care, make me fall in love with the characters, or with you. That's the whole point of writing, to convince the reader that what you've written for them is real. And In order to do that, you have to believe it too.'
