This is where the magic happens- and as you well no by magic, I mean writing!

There's heaps of magic happening in and around me! Writing and books and publishing. So amazing~ I have so many idea's and thoughts about writing both my novels and my blog it's hard to get it all down.

This is definately where the magic happens!

I've just found a really cool show called How to make it in America. Its season 2 so I'll have to go back and find number 1. Because I need to know whats happened!
It stars Bryan Greenburg and Victor Rasuk but has a few familiar faces from other movies and shows and is basicly about two guys trying to make it in New York with a clothing line.
Its funny, cool and interesting.

Devics ~ The Man I Love

An Artists worth....

Talent is what they say

you have after the novel
is published and favorably
reviewed. Beforehand what
you have is a tedious
delusion, a hobby like knitting.

Work is what you have done
after the play is produced
and the audience claps.
Before that friends keep asking
when you are planning to go
out and get a job.

Genius is what they know you
had after the third volume
of remarkable poems. Earlier
they accuse you of withdrawing,
ask why you don't have a baby,
call you a bum.

The reason people want M.F.A.'s,
take workshops with fancy names
when all you can really
learn is a few techniques,
typing instructions and some-
body else's mannerisms

is that every artist lacks
a license to hang on the wall
like your optician, your vet
proving you may be a clumsy sadist
whose fillings fall into the stew
but you're certified a dentist.

The real writer is one
who really writes. Talent
is an invention like phlogiston*
after the fact of fire.
Work is its own cure. You have to
like it better than being loved.

*phlogiston: invisible hypothetical matter or `principle' thought to combine with all combustible bodies and be expelled during burning -- a concept popular in the 18th century but abandoned once oxygen was discovered.

Sitting on the beach writing is always a bit of an experience....

The sea air, the people, the sound of the waves and the water, distant music wafting over to the other side of the creek.

Tallebudgera Creek is all time! It's one of my favourite spots to relax and swim...although this summer has been a huge let down weatherwise. I just havent been able to get there when its nice and normally end up there when its overcast or blown out. However I'm planning to have a beach day this week coming...that's right a folding chair, umbrella, esky, Hawaiiam tropic tanning oil and def music....yes the works!

Anyway so not gettting much writing done, just enjoying the atmosphere....

Leaving behind what we used to be.

I was actually having a conversation with my best friend about how people change, and what we where like at 20 compared to now. I find it very interesting when people say ~

'God you've changed' Like it's a bad thing. I hope Iv'e changed! How weird if I hadn't in 12 years. I would hate to have the same views as 20 year old Tara ~ who was going out with the wrong guy, thinking 20 year old things and basicly being suck in that mindset. I love Tara at 32 and the way I think and feel. I have come so far, experienced so many things and have discovered who I am and what I want to be in the future. It's all making sense as I grow and become who I always was, I just didn't know it back then.....

The witty one liners more than make up for it....

I love a good romantic comedy, especially one with a great story line. Sometimes but definitly not always these sorts of movies can be a bit predictable as most rom coms end happily ever after. But like the heading says; the witty one liners are what makes a movie, and sometimes you can forgive a bad story line or a predictable one if the one liners are good enough!

This is how we do it......

Writing a book takes time, dedication, motivation, and most of all imagination.

Writing a book is such an exhilerating experience...it's one of the best things that has ever happened to me.
To start with you have to have an idea, something that sparks your imagination. I tend to jot the idea down immediately however it comes out....sometimes it's a sentence that I expand on, other times it's just there and i start planning out the story, writing whatever I think of.
At first it's just a jumble of words and can take months to turn into a story. That's the best part......

Planned Confusion.

I have so many little lists of the things I have to do, want to achieve, and ideas for writing and it just never seems to end...... They never go away despite completing lots of it over a period of time. The thing is, the lists ARE never ending, they just keep expanding and being added to.

My whole life revolves around a heap of little lists......

We prefer socially non-retarded.

"like my hair is dyed blonde and I get my nails done twice a week, and Im orange cause I use fake tan, I want fake boobs cause mine arn't big enough, and I have no personality...and I think about things and wonder like where did these thoughts come from...?"

Um where not sure either....is there even a brain in your head????

I have made a concious decision to not allow people with no substance into my life. I literally had...no lets rephrase that I tried to have a conversation with such a person and was a bit dumbfounded really.
The conversation never left the ground, it got stuck at hello, how are you. What have you been up too.

Me - "um you know, writing my book, my blog, doing research, hanging with friends, coffees, dinners, bars, music, life,  doing my thing..."
Her (giggling) "Um not much..." More giggling.

I mean I just gave you heaps of topics to talk about or promts about your life - say anything.....

Me - Oh ok, so what's new? Have you been busy? (WTF do you do with your time???)

Her - "No not really!" More giggling.

Me - "Oh ok cool....." Um do you have a brain. She isnt shy let me tell you its just like um vacant!

A stripper/ topless waitress cum prostitute with no brain in site doesn't a good friend make.
I know not everyone is intelligent or even halfway intelligent, but I require certain things in friends, and one of which is the conversation flows smoothly, we have to have things in common and if we dont they have to be interesting with something to say. I'm a big talker and listener and like lots of different types of people, I love meeting new people but seriously come on...you have to have substance.

Hottest trax right now on channel V.... according to who?

I have beeen subjected to some pretty horrific music if you could call it that.....
What an absoulute load of shit!
There are so many amzing artists out there that can't get a break, and there is some really debateable selections on this top 30 - I would just like to say to the selectors~

More stuff about High Heels.

Isn't it funny that this blog is called Writing in Heels, but I have been vague about the whole high heels side of things except for a few picture of gorg heels and a few ideas on how to walk in them.....

Here's the sitch.....

Although it would be amazing to be able to wear heels twenty four seven, it's just not happening, and to imagine me sitting around, notepad and pen in hand in a sky high pair of heels is totally unrealistic. I mean it's a cute notion, but something I'm yet to actually do, except for a quick youtube upload or photo op - and considering I do most of my writing, thinking and creating at night.....

Dont get it twisted though - I love wearing heels, I tend to wear them everywhere, especially at night, just not really when I'm writing.
Heels are definitely a huge part of my wardrobe. I adore dressing up and totally love shopping for them, but writing in them, um no! - When I'm writing my blog or books I'm barefoot, usually in a pair of denim shorts and a black bonds singlet.

The Lovely Leave.....

When you know you have to go, even though you really dont want to, and you know that the other person is thinking  the same thing you are. That look of recognition, even though you havent said a word, that you want the same thing.....
But you leave anyway, knowing you will be back here one day.....

The Joshua Bell Experiment.

A man sat at a metro station in Washington DC and started to play the violin; it was a cold January morning. He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, since it was rush hour, it was calculated that 1,100 people went through the station, most of them on their way to work.

Three minutes went by, and a middle aged man noticed there was musician playing. He slowed his pace, and stopped for a few seconds, and then hurried up to meet his schedule.

A minute later, the violinist received his first dollar tip: a woman threw the money in the till and without stopping, and continued to walk.

A few minutes later, someone leaned against the wall to listen to him, but the man looked at his watch and started to walk again. Clearly he was late for work.

The one who paid the most attention was a 3 year old boy. His mother tagged him along, hurried, but the kid stopped to look at the violinist. Finally, the mother pushed hard, and the child continued to walk, turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. All the parents, without exception, forced them to move on.

In the 45 minutes the musician played, only 6 people stopped and stayed for a while. About 20 gave him money, but continued to walk their normal pace. He collected $32. When he finished playing and silence took over, no one noticed it. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition.

No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the most talented musicians in the world. He had just played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, on a violin worth $3.5 million dollars.

Two days before his playing in the subway, Joshua Bell sold out at a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100.

This is a real story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste, and priorities of people. The outlines were: in a commonplace environment at an inappropriate hour: Do we perceive beauty? Do we stop to appreciate it? Do we recognize the talent in an unexpected context?

One of the possible conclusions from this experience could be:

If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world playing the best music ever written, how many other things are we missing?

Mention that slophole again, and I walk!

However hard I try I just cant comprehend how many places still have standard condiments available, when there is a world of other luscious ingredients I would like on my sandwich. I would also like more of a choice on the bread or host of my other ingredients. White, wholemeal or brown just dont cut it anymore. I want options.
Bagels, turkish bread, assorted rolls and of course french stick would be a good start.
There are limited places I can go that are in my suburb, with the closest decent place half an hour away. They are amazing and worth the drive but sometimes you just want to stop in and grab something on your way home, and all there is is McDonalds, Sushi (which I love but you cant have it every day), an Evive Chicken shop, Pizza, kebabs, chinese and a bakery with pre-made sandwiches. (The ones where the meats are unidentifiable.) There is a subway with a nice fresh choice of bread and three plastic looking cheeses, but the condiments suck! For a start the black olives need to be kalamata or green olives, not standard pizza olives. The letuce is standard iceberg - there isn't a peice of rocket or leafy greens in site.

I guess I have to go the distance if I want quality food in my life....and that's my little story

Ow, Ow! Rope Burn on my Tongue!

Tara's - How to maintain a sense of humor when all you want to say is FUCK this shit!!!!

Seriously what kind of pathetic and desperate emotional cripple would find what they said normal?

When someone is mentally abused for a period of four years on and off and the abuser goes in and out of 'nice person'  - 'evil person' - it tends to be a bit hard to determine whats normal and whats not. Somehow you become kind of numb to it, and just end up seeing it as normal somehow and tolerate it.
The human mind is a complex thing but can convince itself its OK to tolerate bad behaviour because you love the person who is invading your mind with their control , and serious perversion to reality.
Then one day you snap, a light comes on and you realise if you continue to allow this breakdown of your soul, your 'youness' then you might never be the same. Its time to break the control, take a stand and just move on no matter how hard it might be..........

Trying to sell 100 copies of my book pre-order, is turning out to be harder than I thought. Despite having 340 friends on facebook and a huge family I seem to have only sold 17 copies.
Once I sell the 100 my book will be available on amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com as well as bookshops here and in America, but for that to happen I need to sell the 100 copies.

Its a contemporary romance with a twist. It would make an awesome gift for your mum, sister, girlfriend and wife. So if your feeling generous please help me out and buy my book and make my dreams of being a published author come true

Connect the dots.

Sometimes it can take years for people to connect the dots. I'm talking about their lives, both personally and professionally. When I was 16 I remember our year 10 teacher asking us what we wanted to be. What the hell? How do they expect someone to know at that age what they think they might like to become. In my opinion its like asking a 5 year old the same question. How the hell do they know? Talk about jumping the gun. I dont think 3/4 of my grade had a clue and some still dont in their early 30's. Its a bit hard to predict at any time in life what you want to be or need or like forever. There asking you to define what you will be for the rest of your life. I chose childcare on a whim (16 year old me didnt have a damn clue and just picked something randomly) I decided I wanted to be a teacher , and 2 years later after plenty of work experience I decided it wasnt for me. I left school 4 weeks into year 12 and got a full time job at a cafe and thought I had it all figured out. HA!

Then I moved to another state and started a new life. My adult life.
I finally got it together by 20 and went back and did year 11 and 12 in one year and decided again that I wanted to be a teacher. Primary school...not sure why I guess I just didnt know any better and thought it would be a good fit for me.
Unfortunately I didnt get into Bachelor of Education at my local uni and stupidly applied for only one other BOE position at another uni that I didnt get into despite my high score of 87 out of 100.  I got into Arts and stuck it out for a year until I could reapply to Education. The following year I got in and did one year before getting pregnant with twins. That put a spanner in the works for my education but it actually made me realise I dont want to be a teacher and started writing.....and here I am a writer of a published novel.......a blogger and a daydreamer.......
My dots connected!

Thoughts, concerns and other random things from my head.....

It's a writers world. There is so much subject matter to choose from, I could write all day and not get bored. But you can't just write, write write. You have to get out and experience life, see things, discover things and feel things to be an interesting and informed person to make other people want to read what you have written.
Writing books and writing blogs is a totally different experience. Blogs are short, random bursts of information and bits and pieces of thoughts. They have to catch the eye and are ever changing. Writing a book is a process - endless hours creating a storyline that is also interesting but has depth....

I love any sort of writing..........

Over the next few months I'm going to be entering some writing competitions and also continue to write my 4th novel Ally in Disguise which I'm in love with. I think its my best story yet, and I'm finding it difficult to stay away and focus on the publishing and promotion trail for Gold Digger when I really want to keep telling my story.

Mmmm yep - writing is slowely taking over my life and I couldn't be happier.

what and If.

What and if are two words as non threatening as words can be. Put them together side by siide and they have the power to haunt you for the rest of you life. What if? What if?

Kim Wilde - You Keep Me Hangin' On

Overactive Imagination- another form of Insomnia

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Excuse me - I'm not perfect!

Do you have that one thing that your really bad at? Yeah me too. Mines spelling, so you'll have to excuse me if some posts have errors. I do try my best to spell whatever word correctly, and if is super important or I just dont have a damn clue then I pull out my trusty dictionary and flip through it.
I find it really strange that I have this sort of imperfection considering I have been reading any book I can get my hands on since I was able too.
When I say reading, I'm not talking class readers and the mandatory library book we where made to take home and read once a week. I'm talking, borrowing 20 books at a time once a week, every week from the public library for my whole childhood and teen years. I'm talking about a total bookworm, as in pegging it to the clothes line while I did my afternoon chores of collecting and folding the clothes. And a girl who used to get a flashlight and pull my book out when everyone is fast asleep so I could see what happened next. Plus then theres all the writing I do. Coupled together, I should be an excellent speller. But I'm not!

Thats right, no ones perfect!

What we look like.

I was watching some random show on TV over the weekend about plastic surgery. One lady, who was 'plasticed' up to the eyeballs said;

"They say pretty hurts! But ugly hurts more!"

and it got me wondering. These women and men whose main focus in life is their looks - are totally selling themselves short. They are the type of people who think looks are most important.
No doubt that this is a superficial world and I'm the first to say I like to look nice. I love makeup, love getting my hair done, finding that perfect outfit and shoes. Plucking my eyebrows, shaving my legs etc but thats as far as it's gone. I'm not against plastic surgery though. I think if you want it, get it! If it makes you feel more confident and sure about yourself then go for it. But I'm definately not saying get 10 surgeries in one day - change your look entirely and become so superficial that you can't see past what a person looks like.......

So go ahead and dream......

Moments in the mini-van - Life is crazy but I'm loving it!

Having my book published is such an amazing experience. The support from my publishing team has been exceptional and the process of getting a book published is so interesting and fulfilling, it completes me.
At this stage Gold Digger is available for pre-order on my author website

There has to be compromise.

Sleepless nights - like 5 all in a row cant be good for anyone. And for me I feel like a zombie during the day, swearing to myself when I get out of bed that I'll go to bed early tonight. But so far that hasnt happened. It's definately to do with my book, but it's gotten out of hand. I pretend to myself I'll go to bed soon but 2am rolls around and I feel guilty to my day self because I come alive at night.
