Passion needs passion.

I've unfortunately been subjected to a horrible show on Austar (Pay TV) called Toddlers and Tiaras.
Picture an over the top American mother, a blonde spray tanned trophy child with bleeched teeth, professionally manicured nails, and hair teased to the point of no return, that bounces back into place with an elaborate toss of the head. (All corriographed of course)
#$3600 dresses, lesson in dancing and singing and one mother even admitting to spending 75 grand  on her mini beauty queen, who is all of 5 to win pagents.
As the show progresses, me wanting to change the channel but at the same time transfixed, as mothers openly admit that they had always wanted to do pagents, and had decided to submit their daughters to a heinous competition involving children as young as 2 weeks old.
The show has children preparing for their pagents (crying half the time) saying things like I dont want to and I'm tired. Then theres the competition. Little girls parading around in full makeup, posing, standing, acting out their talent, all the while mum imitating the childs routine in the audience. At the end they name the winners, hundreds of trophies and crowns, bracelts and toys and for the All Time Grande Supreme $1000 cash. Then everyone heads home to prpare for the next comp.

My problem overall with the show is the fact that it's from what I've witnessed the mothers passion. It's what they want, what they think looks good, what their daughter should do as her talent. Admitedly the children seem to enjoy it to some extent, but most of the time they have 'diva moments' (ie. crying, sooking, saying they hate it, and they want to go home) according to their full on mothers.
I say channel your passions elsewhere.

Express not repress.

Everyday life can be enough to repress your true taleents, put them on hold and even squash them all together.
Don't let the days slip by in a haze of eating, sleeping, bills, work, driving, shopping.
Instead express yourself. Live in the moment, find that one thing you love and change it up.
You know you want to!!!

Why can't it be what your actually feeling? There is so much fakeness in this world as it is, we don't need to add to it by pretending to feel something that your not.......

Imagination

"Imagination is more important than knowledge."

Albert Einstein

Tell me how its not the same.

I find other languages very interesting and I have dabbled in French, (I completed a tafe course in French and did the whole tape and book thing), but I find if I dont practice regularly it slowly slips away. I also know a few words in Italian, and Spanish. But I would love to know how to speak a language fluently and be able to read their books and magazines.  I find accents really cool and can sit and listen for hours, I love french music.
As previously mentioned I have a mini obsession with France and all things French. I cant wait to travel there and be all frenchie and eat cheese and bread and drink wine and wander down the Seine and see the Eifel Tower, so in keeping with that I will also be posting this in French!

Makeup Mayhem.

What to do if you want the look but lack the skills!

Struggling to do my eye makeup over the years (unsteady hand and just lack of knowledge)  i'm not a natural artist in the sense of making it look like the picture says it should.
I have gone to the best place for a quick lesson - Youtube!
As you know there is an overload of clips to troll through and somehow I came across a girl who does amazing makeup in a really simple easy to do way, as long as you have the products and tools. You will be looking amazing in no time. Her name is Michelle Phan, and along with showing viewers how to apply simple natural makeup, bronzed looks, and eye makeup tutorials this wonderful artist creates really effective dressup designs, that will go perfectly with all my dress up outfits.
So if your like me and always looking to hone your skills click here>>>>>>>>>>>>>   http://youtu.be/HMnXjpvm-x8

Something....anything.

Trying to get traffic to your blog can be a fulltime job!
First and foremost you need to have good content. Depending on what your blog is about and who you are targeting - your content has to be interesting and relatable. Also updating your content on a regular basis is a must. Then you have to get it out there. The more people that read it the better obviously! This can be a faily daunting experience if your a newbie like me. After typing 'Promote my Blog' into google and a few other search engines I was faced with alot of options that I have dilegently applyed to my blog like creating accounts in social medias, submitting my web address to search engines, getting people to click the google plus one button etc, and originally I noticed a big number of views. After the initial rush, and me having to concentrate on other book related matters I stopped following the list of ways to promote my blog and hoped the work I had put in would pay off, but the number of views rapidly decreased.
Dont get me wrong, I'm still getting traffic, but no-where near enough to be satisfied. So back on the promotion train I get.
The trick is to get it out there and get people liking and reposting my writing. Return visitors is what I'm looking for, and I now realise I will need to do a hell of a lot more promoting to stay on top of it and get people to view my blog and eventually promote my book Gold Digger.

There's nothing to miss if you dont know someone!

I'm decisive in an undecisive way, I totally over analyse everything. I write whatever comes to my head, I wear my heart on my sleeve. I hold grudges like the Sicilian Mafioso if you cross me. I like to make people laugh, I love to write, love sleep and eat exotic food. Reading and writing is like breathing. If I don't watch movies, my life wouldn't be complete. I love music, I'm a night owl, I dont spellcheck unless its really important. My blog and my books are my head, my dreams and my heart. I love shoes and clothes and anything pretty and girly.
And I'm a little bit random!

If I was RICH....

I'd get a new laptop. I would also purchase an IPad and IPhone and I'd also like a video camera. Then I'd go to a tropical island and proceed to suck a fruity beverage out of a pineapple and write my next novel!

How to become a good writer.

Does anyone know how to become a good writer? I mean I'm definately NOT knocking people if they do a heap of creative writing courses and buy a heap of how to books etc. But to me, as a budding writer, it all starts with the idea of a book. The writing or typing takes on a life of its own and the book coupled with your imagination basicly writes itself. All the setting out, putting your content in order, adding the conversations and eventual formatting comes way later. If you have an idea or even the premice of an idea focus on that alone.
Let the words pour out onto the pages and see what happens. At first nothing makes sense , its all a jumble of words, pieces to a puzzle. Once your book starts to form it all falls into place as you hash out your chapters and characters. Iv;e written 50 pages and didnt even know the characters name. Once my idea comes, and it can come to you anywhere at home, out shopping, getting dinner ready and I frantically scramble for paper to scribble out all the basic info and I go back and fill in the rest later. It just keeps expanding and expanding until you have the basis of a novel.
So basicly what I'm trying to say is; don't get hung up on all the technicalities but rather focus on your idea and your writing, and later worry about bringing it all together.

Chubby Imagination

I'm one of those people that is so open to learning and thinking and talking and sharing and participating, its no wonder I write books and this blog.

I love learning new things about anything really. I find it exhilarating (I had to look up the spelling of that word in the dictionary) and interesting. Then theres the thinking. Who doesn't like and enjoy a good think? I love lying on my bed staring at the roof - going over conversations in my head, day dreaming, thinking about the 'what if's'  and the OMG's.
Talking and sharing go hand in hand and is something I really like to do. I love to tell stories, (my close friends can atest to this) about either something that happened to me, a friend or something I have seen or herd. I love sharing my thoughts on things in a non pushy way, but I also love hearing them. Knowing what people think and feel and finding out what makes people tick. I like interesting people that have something intelligent to say. I like to call them people with substance.
Lastly participation is mandatory. If you dont join in on life, get out there and experience new things, meet new people - how boring would that be? I can't even imagine........

would you?

Dress me up.

I dont know if dress up's take me back to being a little girl, for a start I didnt have access to such amazing costumes, it mainly consisted of mums high heels and whatever dress of hers I could reach in the cupboard paired with a smear of her makeup. But as a women there is something fun and a little bit silly about putting on a costume and becoming the character. There's also the naughtiness of wearing an outfit that makes you feel sexy, wild and different.
I've been lucky enough to have been invited to many dress up extravaganza's and have even hosted one of my own. Here are some photos of said such events.

One of my fav costume designers Leg Avenue have the best range, of good quality outfits. Check out their website or purchase at any reputable sex shop. They are def on the sexy side of outfits (I'm not talking about Yoda and Homer costumes) I'm refering to fairytalke characters, nurses, maids and pirate wenches (or basicly anything you can think of) Short skirts, and busty tops. Picture an outfit you would wear to the playboy mansion for haloween (if you ever got invited)
Enjoy x

The down low, low down.

Now that I have sent what I assume is the final copy of my soon to be published book Gold Digger - it should be approx 16 weeks until it will be available for pre-order. In the mean time this is what I can expect to happen.

(Exert from email recieved from my publisher)
Once your manuscript is complete and edited, it will be formally accepted and scheduled for publication. The production effort is split into two parts; the text file, or interior, and the cover. You will work with the designers assigned to you at each phase, and there will be several review and approval steps requiring your sign off as you progress.
When the review and editing is complete, the manuscript is forwarded to a text designer who works with you to create the interior of the book. Our designers are experienced and many have authored books themselves.

The text design process usually takes three to four weeks. You will have several opportunities to review and submit minor corrections to polish and perfect your text.
When the Print Manager assigns your title to a text designer, he also notifies our Press Department. This alerts them that it is time to develop the promotional copy for your book.

To obtain background on you and your book, the Press Department will send you a memo explaining how to locate the Author?s Q&A form on our website, and give you suggestions for completing this interview. Take your time in providing this information as it is the source the press writer will use to compose the professional synopsis, the promotional copy about your book, and the descriptive blurb for the back cover of your book.
Review the drafts with great care. It is vital that these be exactly right. Consider all elements? does it express the content in a pleasing way? Is your bio just the way you wish it to be? Is your author name exactly as you want it, including middle initials, professional citations, punctuation?
This service is usually completed within the time frame of the text file design phase.
Once your text designer completes your text file, and you sign your approval, a Suggested Retail Price (SRP) is set. Then the file advances to the Galley Proof department for a thorough review. After your text passes this audit, your title will be in line for assignment to a cover designer.

He will review your Author?s Q&A form and any other pertinent information, and design a preliminary concept. This cover design will be presented to you for review and approval. You will be able to suggest some changes, and in the event the design is not at all acceptable to you, another design will be created. Your agreement calls for up to two concept covers, and our talented designers most often fulfill the authors vision on the first one.

Our cover designers use a library of more than 50,000 photos and illustrations, and can customize and combine these images to meet the needs of most of our authors. Some authors have their own photo or illustrations for use on the cover. If you provide an image for our use in the cover design, you will be asked to include written permission from the artists who created the photos or illustrations verifying your license to use the art.
When you have approved your concept cover, your designer will complete the back cover. The synopsis prepared by the Press Department (detailed above) will be used as the descriptive blurb on the back cover. It usually takes two weeks for the final cover to be prepared and presented to you for review and sign off. Then the cover is moved forward to the Galley Proof Department (GP).

Final production and print proof:
You will receive a Welcome Letter from the GP Department when your book has arrived for processing. This letter will ask you to confirm your ship-to address for the printed proof. The proof is shipped directly from the printer, and they require a street address no P. O. boxes! They may have other questions for clarification. Be sure to give these issues your prompt attention, as your book will not move forward until all the points are exactly right.
In the Galley Proof Department, the final text and cover files are checked again. An audit will be done to assure compliance with all print specifications and to eliminate any transitional errors that might occur in matching the text file to the cover file. If revisions are necessary they will be ordered and completed. When the book is ready to print it will be forwarded to the printer.
At this time, the printed proof will be ordered, as described above. Since it is shipped direct, there are no instructions included in the package. We will send you a REVIEW Letter explaining how to check your printed proof, and how to communicate your approval to us so that your book can be released for sales and distribution.
The printed proof is the exact same book that will be produced and sold, once you approve it. Take the time to review it carefully.
On average, book production runs three to six months.

So thats where I'm at people.....stay tuned for more info as it comes my way!

'Unscensored Version' Unavailable in your region - Fuck sake.....

Why is it, in this day and age that I'm not aloud to watch the unscensored version of a film clip if I want to. I'm refering to Hurricane by 30 Seconds to Mars.
I mean there is tones of utter crap floating around out there like porn, dirty photos, people and sites that it seems unfathomable that I cant watch a music film clip!
I can understand the responsibilities of sites like Youtube to make sure kids and teens who are viewing their site dont get hold of certain lets say material, but its really the responsibility of their parents to make sure their kids are using the net correctly.  I have clicked on various sites aimed at 18+ and all it says is click yes if you over the age of 18.
Once it opens up your in for a world of corruption if your under 18, and lets face it , teenagers and kids are very inquisitive and can be sneeky if they want to find adult content. Its only a few clicks away.
Dont punish me and the creators of this short film, by not letting me make my own mind up.

Thanks!

Thanks to all my friends and fans who have been reading my blog and liking my posts. Your support means alot xx

Gold Digger update...

I keep thinking I have a few more hours of work to do on formatting and minor editing for Gold Digger, and then after those few more hours - I think oh just a few more. This has been going on for days!
It has been such a big job, I knew it would be but not this big. I probably have (crossing my fingers) the rest of tonight...well till 1am at least and probably the same the following night and then I should be ready to send it! Very exciting but draining and time consuming. I am looking forward to having it all sorted out and sent! Then the celebration can begin!

Thats a valid point.

I can always see someone else's point of view. It doesn't mean that it's right or I agree , but I like to think I can listen to someones views, ideas and thoughts and keep an open mind.
It isn't always easy when sometimes inside your screaming -; shut up you fucking idiot!
However everyone is entitled to their opinion and weather I like it or not - its a valid point according to them!

No - it cant be morning yet!

Im not a morning person at all.
I absolutely hate it if an alarm goes off! I dread being woken up before Im ready ....so annoying! That beeep beeep makes me cringe and wonder why meeeeee! It feels like Im in hell and all as I want is 10 more minutes!
Funnily enough I actually like mornings, and if for some unknown and hated reason that I have to be up at the crack of dawn (anywhere between 7 - 9) I have to admit I like that time of day.  But sleeping in is my most favourite thing!

News from Nowhere!

I'm attending a mexican fiesta house-warming party for the lovely Rhea Robertson in about two weeks, and I'm really looking forward to hanging around in a sombrero and black moustache and drinking Sangria.....

How do I incorporate heels with a sombrero and moustache? Then theres the question; "What does one wear to match that?"
All things I will have to ponder over the next few weeks.

Your best behaviour!

You had better be on your best behaviour - um........I dont have a best behaviour!
That moment when you know you should be doing the right thing....but the temptation to do the wrong thing totally outways it.
Next thing you know your busting out the moves and knee sliding the D-FLOOR!

How to write numbers in a novel!

Im doing the final edit for Gold Digger and came across incosistencies in how I wrote numbers in my novel! I decided to get on google and find out exactly how I should do it.
Iterestingly enough both writing the number or spelling it out is both correct but you have to be cosistant within a category.

I thought I would write the number 10 instead of ten because it seems a bit more modern to me. Gold Digger is a modern book and writing the number seems a bit more out of date.

This is what I found -

Be consistent within a category. For example, if you choose numerals because one of the numbers is greater than nine, use numerals for all numbers in that category. If you choose to spell out numbers because one of the numbers is a single digit, spell out all numbers in that category.

If you have numbers in different categories, use numerals for one category and spell out the other.

Correct:

My 10 cats fought with their 2 cats.

My ten cats fought with their two cats.

Given the budget constraints, if all 30 history students attend the four plays, then the 7 math students will be able to attend only two plays. (Students are represented with figures; plays are represented with words.)

Incorrect:

I asked for five pencils, not 50.

I with you am!

Inspired by my work in progress Ally in Disguise and The walls of the city.

Our limbs are tangled as we lay on your bed trying to catch our breath. We are weak from hours spent melted into each other. Sweat, saliva, heat. Our bodies eventually slow as we start to drift off into oblivion.
You leant over and kissed my cheek and shifted your body, pulling me close. I lay there suprised that you are showing your feelings and emotion even for this moment. You are usually so aloof, maybe you think I'm asleep? Maybe I am, and this is just a dream. Its such a small thing but it means alot. Maybe you forgot yourself?
Later when the music and the lights are brighter you'll pretend where just friends, and i'll wonder if it really happened at all......
Published with Blogger-droid v1.7.4

Music!

I love music, its another passion of mine. I really like alot of different types, depending on my mood! I spend hours literally lost in music land jumping from one song to the next. I can listen to 80's Hip Hop or Top 20, Rhea's heatfelt acoustic tunes or The XX's Heart Skipped a Beat and Afrika Bambatta Soul Sonic Force is all time! I could list a million songs and artists but I wont and that is all :-)

Whats your story?

What makes you YOU?
What can you say you have achieved in your story?
Dreams we have or goals that we would like to achieve can become part of our story - we just have to really want it and do everything we can to make it happen. Sometimes no matter what we do we wont get it, but thats also part of your story......
You dont have to be famous, rich or important to have a story, everyone has one - its not all good, but its our and its makes us who we are!

Real life is Boy/Girl! No real life is Boy on Top of girl!

Is life just about getting fucked? I think not! Life is what you make of it!

As a women - times have never been easier - it can still get easier but it hasn't always been like this.
Women have had to fight to be herd for so long but we have arrived ladies, what we say actually matters now! It mattered before - but we weren't being herd. Now our voices have become louder, we have proven we are smart, important and can still be beautiful.

Its not just about what a man wants, thinks and says. We are equal, earning money, respect and love alongside men.
There is still room for improvement but we dont have to open our legs and be submissive to let our voices be herd!

A compromise is an agreement whereby both parties get what neither of them wanted. Anybody can win, unless there happens to be a second entry.

One look tells me 'this place eats the hairy bird!'

Have you ever gone somewhere and automatially gotten that vibe...

'the I just dont want to be here one'

I have many times!
It could be at a restaurant, bar, club, someones house, a party or event or even a situation your in that just sux! And all you want to do is get the hell out, you would rather be anywhere but here. Why do we stay and smile politely while thinking Fuck This - I just want to go home turn on the TV and have a glass of wine and just chill......
Mostly these particular instances dont occur regularly, I'm definately not a stick in the mud, I love a good night out, dinner, drinks at a bar, spending time with friends etc but sometimes I find myself in a position where I'm thinking what the hell am I doing here!
Maybe its the frame of mind Im in at the time and Ive gone against my better judgement and gone anyway, and regretted it the whole time. But on the other hand Ive been in similar situations and had the best night ever.
Its kind of like when you drink alcohol. How drunk you get and how quickly all depends on a list of factors including how much food you have consumed that day, weather you ate while you drank, sleep the night before, what frame of mind your in and a few other random facts.
Same as a night out or dinner or whatever your doing, it depends on certain factors like the company your with or events in your life either personal or professional as to weather your thinking that

Whatever you do- Dont Act Tasty!

That moment your strolling along, minding your own buisness, and you come face to face with what appears to be a dog but could more than likely be some sort of mini horse!
You frantically look around for an owner/ anyone as your stomach does flip flops, and you automatically plaster a smile on your almost trembling lips and say 'nice doggy' as it approaches sniffing. Probably just curious but ultimately in my head seems like its about to maul my face off!
The intimidation factor is great as you try to edge away as you and 'mega dog' eyeball each other. You praying you get out unscathed and him thinking mmmm tasty!
Im a dog lover but this is just ridiculous! Who needs a dog that big for a start? I mean it was up to my chest.... HELLO!
And secondly WTF is its owner doing letting a beast that size roam free? Its just bloody reckless to allow it to wander around unattended and harass unsuspecting people/freaks.
Im all for dogs having some fun but be sensible people- keep it under control.

I'm serious.....

I am still so busy trying to get this book (Gold Digger) formatted. I have probably 6 hours of work left to do on it (but that's just a guess) and then I am emailing it to my publisher for its final review before printing begins.
The process is very interesting. So can't wait until I get to see cover designs and watch it come together.
Vey exciting time for me.....

Mascara and Lipstick!

Makeup- who doesn't love it?
It makes a girl feel feminine, sexy, and pretty. It promotes confidence, and let's face it, looks amazing when done right.
But then there's those girls that look like they have been gang banged by crayola- and its just not a good look!
My advice- if your not sure, pop down to the local shops and ask one of the lovely girls at the mac counter for a few tips :-)

All right! Where do you want it?

That moment when your knee deep in blog entries, book pages, dictionaries, notes and stationary and someone tries to organise your stuff when you nip to the loo. You come back to find that they have piled it all up in a neat little stack!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHH

Fragrances stimulate memory!

Isn't it amazing when certain smells take you back in time or trigger a special memory from when you where a child or another significant time in your life.
I recently smelled a bodyspray I wore when I was 14 called waterberry, and I was instantly there. It was like taking a photo, but instead you smell it!
I can do that with so many fragrances, its a pretty interesting experience!
